Maximum Apocalypse is a cooperative roguelike adventure game for 1-6 players. In Maximum Apocalypse, civilization has already fallen. The players are survivors of the apocalypse whose mission is to survive the hostile landscape.

The game map is randomly generated and different every time that you play. On each turn, a player can use up to four actions to explore the map, play cards, equip weapons, scavenge for resources, draw cards or battle off monsters.

Picking a unique survivor class within the group, players must plan their strategy and work together while leaning on their survivor’s strengths in order to defeat monsters and avoid starvation. For example, the Fireman is deadly up close with his ax and can easily chop down monsters; meanwhile the stealthy Hunter is great at scouting the map and avoiding traps — but roaming monsters are gathering quickly and time is running out. If you are overwhelmed by monsters or die of starvation, the players lose. If they can find enough gas and get it back to their van to escape, they all win and live to play another scenario.

Maximum Apocalypse is a cooperative roguelike game filled with adventure, exploration and strategic choices. It was built from the ground up to be very modular and infinitely replayable.  The core game features 4 different apocalypses and 6 different character classes. 

The first expansion, Kaiju Rising, adds two new survivor characters, the Army Ranger and Scientist. Each character comes with their own unique survivor deck of abilities and equipment cards. Finally, this expansion adds a new apocalypse deck of 30 cards with new missions and challenges as you face the largest monsters seen thus far…the Kaiju! Oh and there are giant robots too of course. 

Gothic Horrors is the first deluxe expansion and adds two new apocalyptic scenarios, the Cthulhu Mythos and Classic Monsters. Face off against life draining vampires, ghouls and werewolves in a classic monster set or try and stop a bunch of cultists from summoning Cthulhu or other unspeakable Lovecraftian horrors. Each apocalypse brings with it new gameplay mechanics such as the Insanity deck or the new night/day cycle. This expansion also adds two new survivor classes, the Priest and Ronin. The Priest is a persistent believer in humanity who offers protection from unspeakable evils. The Ronin is a new close range combatant with dual purpose cards that change based on her combat stance.

Gothic Horrors adds new apocalypses and characters, but also introduces a lot of new game mechanics.  Here is a quick rundown of what’s new in the Gothic Horrors expansion: 

Vampires & Classic Horror Monsters

The Vampire set introduces a new Drain Life mechanic.  Every time a vamp bites, it will leach off your health and restore its own. 

Day/Night Deck

With this deck each round takes place during the day or night.  During the day, monster tokens can move and shift on the board.  After everyone has had a turn, you will flip over the card to reveal a night effect.  Bad things can happen at night. Maybe a dense fog rolls in preventing the move action or perhaps you’ll be struck by an icy chill…this deck is sure to add difficulty to any scenario. 

Cthulhu Mythos & Insanity Deck

This apocalypse introduces cultists trying to resurrect Lovecraftian horrors.  These monsters are so terrifying that they test your sanity. Every time they appear, you’ll draw from the insanity deck.  These cards will cause hallucinations, take up inventory space, and give you unique phobias that you’ll have to overcome. 

New Monster Spawn Tokens

We are including a bunch of monster spawn tokens that allow you to customize your dice rolls from the original game.  This can lead to a much greater challenge on any scenario!

New Survivor: Priest

The Priest is a new support class that focuses on manipulating monster tokens. He is also very adept at staving off hunger and dealing with insanity and other status effects. 

New Survivor: Ronin

The New Ronin class is a very versatile killing machine.  Most of her cards have Offensive and Defensive actions and abilities so you can change your available actions by switching your stance.
