Cartographers Heroes can be played as a stand-alone game, or combined with the contents from the original game.

Cartographers Heroes offers new ways to play Cartographers!
- Change the goals of the game with 16 all-new scoring cards!
- Beware the 4 new ambush cards, as the monsters now have special abilities! Ignore them at your peril.
- Discover 4 new hero cards in the explore deck to draw on your map sheet to destroy monsters within range!
- Explore 2 new map sheets to add variety to your Cartographers game.
COLLECTOR’s EDITION
This version of Cartographers Heroes will not be available in retail (with the exception of retailers who back this Kickstarter).
The larger box (318 x 227 x 72mm – Roll Player sized) and has room to store additional Cartographers content (sold separately) from Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale, the original Skills Mini-Expansion, and the Ambush Mini-Expansion. This version of Cartographers Heroes includes:
- All the content from the retail version of Cartographers Heroes
- Custom plastic insert (supports sleeved cards)
- Map Pack 1 – Nebblis: Plane of Flame
- Map Pack 2 – Affril: Plane of Knowledge
- Map Pack 3 – Undercity: Depths of Sabek
- Skills Mini-Expansion 2 – 8 new skills cards + rules card.
- Colored Pencils: 20 colored pencils (4 sets of 5 colors)
In addition to the new version of Cartographers, we are also offering three new map pack expansions. Each map pack includes:
- 1 Rulesheet specific to the map pack.
- 75 Map Sheets (double-sided)
- 3 New cards for use with the map pack.
Note: Each map pack is shrinkwrapped separately and delivered without a box.
With the release of Cartographers Heroes, a brand new Skills expansion is available. As with the original Skills Mini-Expansion, you will find 8 new Skills cards and a rules card. Some cards in this mini-expansion require Cartographers Heroes to play, as a couple of them require knowledge of the hero cards work. This mini-expansion can be combined with the original Skills Mini-Expansion, which can be added to your pledge as an add-in in the pledge manager. It allows the players to spend their collected coins to break the rules of the game in a unique way once per season.
The Skills Mini-Expansion 2 is included with any pledge of Cartographer Heroes.

Cartographers Heroes is divided into four seasons. At the end of each season, players earn reputation stars. The phases of each season are:
Explore Phase
A player reveals the top card of the Explore Deck and places it face up in the center of the table so all players can see it.
Draw Phase
All players simultaneously choose one of the terrain types and one of the shapes depicted on the explore card and draws it on their own map sheet.
Check Phase
At the end of the turn, the players check to see if the season is complete and players either move to the Scoring Phase or return to the Explore Phase.
Scoring Phase
Once the players have met or exceeded the time threshold on the season card, the season is complete and players score their map. A new season begins or the game ends after four seasons.
Cartographers Heroes is the sequel to the critically acclaimed map-drawing game Cartographers. It includes all-new map sheets, scoring cards, explore cards, and ambush cards with unique abilities.
Cartographers Heroes can be played on its own or mixed with components from the original game for a greater variety of gameplay possibilities.
