In 2016, Tasty Minstrel Games was proud to bring you the original Yokohama. Now, with designer Hisashi Hayashi, we bring you the brand new two player experience set in Meiji Era Japan, Yokohama Duel.
As before, we are offering up this brand new game as a Kickstarter Exclusive Deluxified™ edition, with upgraded components that are certain to add to the enjoyment of the game.
In Yokohama Duel, you and your opponent are merchants in Yokohama, trying to succeed in your business ventures which will gain you prestige. You need to fulfill various goals, which involving amassing copper, silk, tea and seafood, mastering foreign technology, and building shop houses and trading houses. To achieve these goals, you need to run around the streets of Yokohama and gain benefits from the various districts. Also, it may be a wise strategy to employ foreign agents to your side to aid your cause. It is a contest to decide which player can deploy their subordinates the most successfully to become the best merchant in Yokohama!
You may notice that the components for the Deluxified™ version of Yokohama Duel are already improved and are not dependent upon Stretch Goals to be upgraded. We are loading up Yokohama Duel with top of the line additions from the get go so all of our backers don’t have to worry if they are going to get a full Deluxified™ game with their pledge – they will! – and as the campaign continues, we have several additions in mind that will make the Deluxified™ version even better!
Tasty Minstrel Games is of the opinion that amazing games should also look amazing while you are playing them. This is why we offer an upgraded version of our releases when we have a Kickstarter campaign. Ever since we first undertook this process, with the game Orleans, the Deluxified™ versions of our games have proven to be fan favorites, and we think that our Deluxe version of Yokohama Duel will continue this amazing tradition that some of our other games like Crusaders: Thy Will Be Done and Yokohama helped forge.
The additional cost for the Deluxified™ version of Yokohama Duel matches our cost to make and deliver it to you, the backer, with no additional profit. We will make enough for Kickstarter Backers, some replacement copies, and some for convention sales in Limited Quantity. Backing this Kickstarter at the Deluxified™ level is the only way that you can guarantee yourself a Deluxe copy of Yokohama Duel.

Yokohama Duel is a two-player worker-placement game that lasts four rounds, with each player taking four turns in each round. The game includes ten areas, and each area can be used only once each round. Workers have power, but they can be used only by people with low power. To gain victory points, players must complete the order form, build shops and trading houses, clear custom goods, and dedicate the church. At the end of the game, whichever player has more points wins.
